Top discussions - too long to get involved in?

The top discussions often go on for several pages, which seems too long for me. I know that I almost never read past the first page of responses and whenever I respond to a discussion where I am on the 2nd or 3rd page no one ever comments like how they do when I am the first or second response.
Is there some better way to participate in discussions? I like some of the subjects of the top discussions, but I don't feel like I should even bother responding because no one will ever read what I have to say.

I am with you on this. I too tend to pass up discussions where there are multiple pages since if I want to check back I have to scroll and scroll to find myself if I am lucky. I would help keep a conversation going if I could easily access my responses. Also I figure with that kind of response that they don't need my imput.

i feel the same. i am glad to here i am not the only one. there are a lot of topics out there asking for people to give them advice but after they already have 30 people giving them advice, they really don't me to add my 2 cents in at the end.

imo u should just reply to them. who cares if the discussion has been going on for ages. there will always be someone who reads your message. i personally read through a whole discussion if i think it's interesting so dont be shy, just post damn it :)

I don't think that I don't respond because I am shy. I just feel like my comments will be wasted so why not spend my time on a discussion with few posts. sometiomes it feels like I am talking to a brick wall for how much reaction i get from what I am saying.
I am glad that you actually take the time to read what everyone has to say in posts. ion't think that most people do, but if there are at least a few like you out there then there still might be hope for discussions yet.

I´ve had one or two, maybe even 3 discussions where I recived several pages of comments andi can say that i read EVERY single one of them and I am still trying to commentthem all. might take time but i will, coz I think it is important to show that it has been read, otherwise there is no meaning in disussioning

thank you marie! it is good to hear that at least there are people out there who are making the effort to have worthwhile discussions and that someone is actually going to read what you have to say.
For the discussions that don't work this way, that is exactly my fear. that there is no point in responding if no one is going to bother with your post in the long run.
Thank you for working so hard at maintaining your discussions.

I agree because this setup makes it really hard if you want to continue with a discussion after a couple days. especiialy if you respond to a discussion with something meaningful, you will probably be wondering if anyone will comment on it. but everytime you check that discussion you have to search for where you posted.

i disagree completely. I don't think it is foolish to comment on my own discussions and even tho people want to earn money, i think that they would probably want to do something worthwhile in the process

The hard thing for me is that the multiple pages are filled with almost no substance. yo have to wade through awful comments that are completely useless to get to teh substance.
