How often do you honestly go to the eye doctor?

Do you wait until your glasses have broken, been lost, stolen, or so scratched up you can barely see through them? I have never needed glasses so far (knock on wood), but I do go to the eye doctor every other year just as maintenance and to make sure my eyes are healthy. Sometimes you aren't aware of how gradually your eyesight is blurring until you go to the eye doctor, plus they can detect early signs of eye diseases such as glaucoma or cataracts, etc. What makes you decide to go in for an eye exam?

i have to go to the eye doctor every 6 monthes or so because i wear all day all night contact lenses. i dont mind though because i like to have good vision, and you only get one set of eyes.
i am saving up to get laser eye treatment, but it is expensive and so for the time being i will continue with my contact lenses and readily check ups.

Opticians are not eye doctors. The correct term is actually optometrist. I'm not sure where you're from, but in the U.S., optometrists have to attend a 4-year professional program after they earn a bachelor's degree. Opticians, on the other hand, do not have to go to an accredited optometry school, and they cannot give prescriptions.

The last time and hopefully the last forever, was in July! I got LASIK eye surgery! :) So I don't need glasses anymore. Yay! I am so glad I got the surgery and I am very happy with the results. I don't fumble with glasses anymore. Yay! :) Life is good.

I'm glad you're happy with the results! Did you notice your eyes feel a bit dry after the surgery? I know one of the most common side effects of LASIK is dry eyes. Also, I wanted to mention if you didn't already know, that you will eventually need to return to the eye doctor when you develop cataracts and presbyopia..

Do you also have good eyesight without visual aids? Is there anyone in your family who has eye problems? Many people are not aware of this, but eye problems, among many other health problems, can be hereditary. Don't get me wrong, I am not preaching :) Just curious to know why you haven't been to the eye doctor lately.

That's really good to hear :) Does your optometrist give you a contact prescription that lasts two years? Some states allow optometrists to give out prescriptions that last two years, but it's more common for them to expire in a year, just so you can be sure your prescription is accurate for your needs.

I need to make an appoitment. I havent had my eyes checked in a couple of years. The older you get the worse your eye sight gets. Im always doing something and then I forget about my eyes.
