I was a bit shocked reading this, I can't believe someone would actually get sent to prison for playing their music too loudly. A Japan woman was to recieve a one year prison term for playing her music too loudly but now her sentense has been changed to 20 months. Apparently this woman had "bombarded" her neighbour with loud music for 2.5 years. Do you think this seems like a fair sentense? If not, what do you think her punishment should have been?

She shouldn't be in prison for it. She should have been given a warning and if didn't listen be put on probation and have some community service to do, but PRISON! That's just ridiculous.

She should be fined, not put into prison.

They're a little tight over in Japan. They won't serve anyone with visible tattoos in a restaurant! They're pretty uptight and strange when it comes to their 'rules'. It doesn't surprise me at all that playing loud music would bring a prison sentence, but then again if she was doing it out of spite and to annoy... guess I can understand!

I think it could possibly be fair. If she has been annoying her neighbour for sooo many years, than in fact she has been told a dozen times to stop doing it. I would "assume" the police have given her fines for disrupting her neighbour too.
Basically, it sounds like she disrespected not only her neighbour, but the authorities. Also, she may have been finally fined a huge amount of cash for her persistence of playing the music loud and may not have been able to pay it. Thus, a prison sentence is in order.

i think that's too much. they should have just given her a fine for playing loud music. or confiscated her sound system.

sending her to prison is a lil too much. if it's just music, is there any profanity in the music? well, if it really creates public nuisance and disturbing the peace, and she didn't heed the neighbors' requests and warnings, i guess fining her would be enough.

what a bunch of hoopla!! I read that and i stil dont undertsand how she INFLICTED INJURY on the neighbor lady..lol..like how? its didnt say anything that how she was harmed..anyways..i think she deff should have been fined, and then take her boombox if that didnt work..and last resort was to make her move..but in jail? its a waste of taxpayers money and time..this was rediculous! lol thanx for sharing

I think that it is not a right sentence. Why did the neighbor not complain sooner about it. I think three to six months would have been much more appropriate.

20 months jail time for playing you music too loud? That's crazy. She should have gotten a warning or something. If she didn't stop she should have least gotten a month or something of prison time. 20 months isjavascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$btSubmit','')
preview response too harsh.
