I think that having money gives us the opportunity to be comfortable. I am not rich by any means, but I do have a job that provides adequate income to provide all of the necessities of life plus some extras. Is my happiness dependent on these things? Not really. Yes, I think that having a home that I can keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer, a car that gets me to and from work, a job that I enjoy and food and clothing to contribute to my happiness. I probably wouldn't be very happy if I didn't have those things.
I think that past that...having money for extras and luxuries doesn't make one any more happy than the person who is able to provide exactly what they need to live comfortably. I think that millionaires and billionaires probably have the same emotions that the rest of us do. They might can buy more stuff...but stuff doesn't equate to happy. I think that happiness is something that we gain when we learn who we are and what activities/people are best in our lives.

No, I don't think money can buy happiness. Money can help with financial difficulties and make life easier but I think happiness comes from within. I know many people that don't have a lot of money but they are still happy folks because they like their job, have good relationships, and aren't chasing after money.
