what is ur opinoin about dowry system ??

recieving and giving dowry both are punishables offences.. dont know why people insist for dowry..if the parents of the gals give them something its ok...but its their wish whether to give or not..the boys family cannot insist on wat they should give!!!!

It is wrong. If the girls have money then their will be no problem, but the poor girls from where they can bring so much dowry. First of all we have eliminate this dowry system. Whoever take dowry I would like to kill them. In one way they are sucking blood of girls parents. I hate people who take dowry.

Whether you call it dowry or gift or ..it become nosubject in the case of people having enough money[Any how they have to distribute their earnings to children--It is become evil in the case of poor people..Anyhow either rich or poor ONE SHOULD NOT DEMAND MONEY OR BLACKMAIL THE GIRL WHO CAME TO SPEND WIYH YOU HER LIFELONG TIME WITHOUT KNOWING YOU PERFECTLY AND CONFIDENCE ON YOU...

The word dowry should be erased in the future. Its like doing business. Buying the gal for money. Gals should not marry the person who s in favour of dowry.

dowry system is totally a wrong custom ... even today dowries are being demanded and even when not demanded the girls family give dowries due to fear .... dowry should surely be done away with ... but it will never be ...

In marriage,actually we r giving our girl...so we dont want to give money...If it is is indeed one money transfer,then...that guy should give money....

Depends the trade and also if everybody is happy. Keeps te tax man from knowing.

This has been a custom in some group of people so I can't say that it's wrong.

if the gal's family wanna give something ..well n fine but insisting on maaryng only if money ,land or such are given is stupid n should be punished...marraige aint a trade``

dowry defines how illiterate a person can be.. an eduacated person would never take dowry becus he/she would atleast know that marriage is not a trade but a lifecommitment of love ... dowry should be prohibited at all costs .. those who care would follow what i think ...

i think the term dowry is not used these days. It can be termed as the girls share which the girl gets after she gats married. i repeat , the girl gets and not the inlaws nor the husband.This is very much acceptable

It is crutches for those who do not have confidence in themselves. Wedding is an event that a couple remembers for the life time and with a custom of dowry it makes it a bitter experience.

I think it is ok if that someone is giving that something from the bottom of their hearts, but if you are giving it in exchange of something then it is not. In other countries dowry is your way of saying "thank you" to the woman's parents for taking care of their daughter to be your wife while in other countries it is just a gesture of being thoughtful and showing the girl's family you are a person they can run to when they need something, someone who is not greedy and selfish :)

i am not aganist it but...i am aganist the mother of the guys DEMADING stuff from the brides parents..i wish it ends!!!!

It is cultural thing - I feel it's acceptable so long as it is not exorbitant as in the case of some Indian custom.

the system as such is bad because it brings about lots of social evils and even leads to loss of lif due to greed for money.

If we're in a good financial situation, then dowry is not needed. Otherwise it's better to have dowry, but absolutely it should not be for us. It should be kept as a fund for our future
