Being a Bridesmaid

I have a problem. My friend has just got engaged and for years I have always jokingly said when I was her bridesmaid she would need to give me a year to lose weight. Now I don't know what to do. I don't want her to feel that she has to ask me and I'm not sure if she wants me to be one. I think she will just ask me because she feels she has to to not hurt my feelings. I am really not bothered if she doesn't ask. What should I do?
