yanno, we have been blessed with longer trading hours. years ago, shops were closed for a couple of days over christmas and then new year. not to mention the other public holidays. nowadays we have some shops open on many of these public holidays for our convenience. i know it would be a bit annoying to not even have a servo open on these days but we had to deal with it in the past, making sure we had all we needed for those days that the shops were closed. ive always lived in the city so notice it more when shops are open or closed. we are also lucky that in the city, public transport is still working on a sunday timetable usually, so its not so bad if there are no service stations open.
living in small towns is difficult, the prices are usually higher and the opening hours are shorter. unfortunately you gotta organize yourself around the days that are closed and make provisions for it.
