We have a couple times each year where locally, or nearby they build beautiful real ice castles. The one in the picture is an ice castle in Wisconsin, not locally here in Pennsylvania but I was wondering how many other cold places create these beautiful palaces. There's even one in Canada that you can stay in overnight like a hotel!!!!! It's so awesome~!

Yes, the ice hotel is in Quebec Canada. I've seen it on the news and they show you where the people sleep and stuff. Not sure if I'd stay overnight but it sure is weird, in a call way (no pun intended).
The beds are made of ice and you there is an animal skin (I think) they lay on top so your butt don't freeze.
For you people in the U.S that don't know where Quebec is, it is in Canada, the country that is north of yours. I don't mean to be rude but some people in the states don't know where Canada is.

One of my fondest memories was of us going to the ice castle and you running through with your brother and sister pretending you were princesses and a prince! lol

I saw a place in Saudi Arabia where they literally have a ski lodge and all the snow and ice you can imagine in an indoor place. It was amazing to see such a thing in an atmosphere where you would definitely not expect it!

LOL.. it definitely is up to scale for real use!!! I'm 43. Lucky for me I have the heart of a 10 year old and enjoy these kind of neat things!!! lol I've often commented that I'm a kid at heart and refuse to grow up and take life too seriously. We only get one chance at it, I want to go through it with a smile!

My family in Israel actually went to a whole display of ice sculptures and structures. They sent us a lot of pictures.. it was absolutely gorgeous! Israel seems to be the wrong choice for this lol since their temperature rarely drops below freezing (or even below 50 :P ) but it worked very well. It'd be a lot of fun to go!

Yes i have seen some real ice castle in my town too. There is a real beauty to buld one and when it is finished after such a long work and struggle with the shaping of snow it looks like a miracle in the town. Good luck and build many many of them!

I have not seen a real ice castle. I did read an article in a magazine that told of a hotel that was made of ice, or had rooms made of ice. You slept on ice slabs. It looked like an igloo. Not the hotel itself, but the "rooms" where you slept. It was really pretty as the lights made it look eerie.
