Is it bad to give someone else a present you got two of?

If you get two presents exactly the same for Christmas, or something that you don't need, do you think it's bad or ungrateful to give one away to someone else who will use it? I got two books the same and it seemed dumb to keep both, so I gave one away to a friend today. The two people who gave me the books are both from my boyfriend's family though and it could be embarassing if they found out. What do you cool people in the MyLot community reckon about this?

No, I don't think its bad to share a gift that you got two of. Many people after reading a book share it with others or donate it to a library.
