Yawn!

Can someone tell me why do we yawn? I think we yawn for no rhyme or reason.We yawn when we wake up,we yawn when we are sleepy,we yawn when we are bored! What exactly is the scientific reason for yawning?

I once heard it is a lack of oxygen. This is only what I have heard.

When we become tired, we don't get enough oxygen to the brain. Therefore, yawning occurs. Yawning gives oxygen to your brain to keep it functioning properly.
