Will a "fashionable" or "unique" name embarrass a child later on in life?

We have named our child a rather unusual name, and I am now wondering if he will grow up to resent his unique name. We wanted it to be different, but not too far out (nothing like apple cakes, or chicky or something totally oddball). Did you give your children run of the mill names? Do you think a childs name can impact on their life, later on?

what i think let her/him decide the name when he/she grows up later in their life. Parents do their best to name their kids but sometimes its not always cheerful for the kids either he/she don't like it due to certain factor like fashion or sometimes other kids makes fun of him. so the better is just let them choose his/her identity later on with their life bcoz ofcourse its their life and we are just the medium of God.

Thats a very interesting and free spirited perspective to take, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have to admit that I like the idea of naming my child. But I do understand that sometimes a name doesn't always suit a person...
