The reason I am asking this is because I want to go back to school to become an RN and I am reshearching on how much schooling does it take. I have 5 year old twins and as of now I am a Medical Assistant and I want to upgrade my career. Please if there is anyone that is studying this career please comment?

I am also going back to school after having my kiddos who are now 2 and 1. I am going to a 4 year college but it is becuase there is no waiting list and they have an accelerated program for people who already have a BS in something. Most 2 year programs have a long waiting list and the wait might be better spent in a university. You can make more and have more oppurtunities with a 4 year degree. There is a movement in a lot of hospitals now where they are trying to get certain certifications and some require that most if not all of your RN's are BSN degreed. Just some food for thought.

I see shynay answered your question already (and did a good job too!) I just wanted to say 'you GO girl!!' Nursing is one of the most rewarding professions to be in, and an upgrade in the career ladder. Since you already are a medical assistant, you have some strong basics already in hand that will be of some help along the way in your studies. Good luck as you go for your RN!

Hello michele!(",) I'm a nurse already. I took the board last December and now I am a registered nurse! There are many nursing schools in the Philippines and hope you will finish soon! God bless and good luck to your career in the future!(",)

I would also like to add that it may depend on how long you have been out of school. To start off you will need to take a placement test to gauge your abilitys. If you need to brush up on some math or english this can add an extra year before you can enter the nursing program. I am also a student getting ready for the nursing program. I have been in school for a year and I have another year to go before I finish all my prereqs. I go full time and I am in school about 3 hours a day, four days a week. This does not include the time it takes to do my homework, add another 2-3 hours per day. I hope this helps. Good luck!
