as a christian i dont know what to say to the comments given in da vinci code book by dan brown if you can help in this issue .
in this book they have mentioned about the jesus's married life do you go against or abide it?
in the book they have mentioned everything to be true upto their knowledgebut regarding you what is your opinion?
will this book affect the religious faith of christians?
can we punish dan brown in the same way as salman rushti had been punished for his satans poems which seems to hurt the feelings of mulims?
what is your word regarding this book?

What he wrote abou Jesus' life has been a long time contoversy. Why should he be punished for exploiting it and writing such an excellent story? The story is not regarded as fact, but as a well written work of fiction. If your faith is threatened by a work of fiction, then you should question your own faith, not the person who wrote the story. We know very little about Jesus' actual life, no one can really say 100% what he did or did not do in his life time.

I also agree nobody knows what happened exactly. We have just interpretations and our beliefs. It's o different than there is different religions out there and they all have there translation of the bible and what happened and how it happened. Yet we don't go around trying to close them down. It is all in what you want to believe and how you want to honor jesus in your heart. As long as you are a good person then the book should just be enjoyable reading not a book to question your faith on.

The book is a work of fiction. But it does bring up some controversies that have been going on with Jesus's life.
He shouldn't be punished for what he wrote. It's a work of fiction.

That's what I'm screaming. I don't understand why Christians (I'm a Christian) should think this book will effect their faith any more than Charlotte's Web or Harry Potter...both ALSO works of fiction. The operative word being FICTION. Meaning "not true".

i am a christian and this is what im gonna say...the book THE VINCI CODE is just a FICTION..meaning not true..unreal...i just dont understand why some people hates or condemning dan brown for making the story...i mean he is not forcing anyone to abide in it right...if the person has strong faith in God, there is nothing that can make him go against God...i dont understand why some people are so bothered...i mean it is JUST A NOVEL...for there is nothing wrong with the book, since he is not claiming it to ba fact...and he clearly stated that it is FICTION...(words written in all caps are tend to emphasize, not shout) teehee!

Well...Lets remember that Da vinci code is a work of fiction.A fiction can manipulate facts / non facts , or any information that have no grounds, just to capture attention & to increase its sales.
If u want to know the truth , dont depend on works of fiction.

No fiction thing will change my faith, and there will be more things like that to question what christians belive, did you realy know who are behind all this? I think a lot of people all ready loose their faith in God, so don't belive in any men, you will drive crazy if you pay attenton to everyone, if is not in the Bible, it comes from men imagination, read the Bible and be your own judge.

I couldn't agree with you more, because The Da Vinci Code is about a work of art that a man did and like this previous comment, if it's not in the Bible then it isn't true if you are a Christian that is which off course is why they called this book/movie fiction meaning off course "not true".

The book written by Dan Brown is not a mere fiction. The book has something to say.
This ain't any kind of book that is just written all of a sudden..there had been researches going under this..what i want everyone is to think.i had been asking amny of the people in my society about this..i collected some information and what i understood that there are some places in bible where it says that jesus has attended a marriage and it has clues which says it was jesus marriage..
there are also many point like this..but this is not our topic..
so relating this book and the point which i said there are similarities...
so we cannot blindly say that the book is a mere fiction...
do respond to my comment on this discussion..

I haven't read but I heard about it well thought that its a work of an imaginative mind like Dan brown. It wouldn't break down your faith if you truly read the bible and we all know that jesus was never married to Mary Magdalene and we just leave it this way that his work is not all true to our faith.

The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction based on theories highlighted in "Holy Grail, Holy Blood." Therefore it was not his theory. I was raised catholic, however I love the book. I do not believe that the idea of Jesus being a married man should have any effect on religion. Would it be so horrible if he had married? I believe the Catholic Church opposed the movie (not the book) because they feel it sheds an ugly light on Opus Dei (a sect of them). If you have read the book, you will see that it is much different than the movie. In the book, the priest had NO knowledge of the killing. Once the killing was revealed to him, he wanted to withdraw from the Teacher's plans. Please read it, if you have not already and you will see a difference. The movie kind of preyed on a certain area close to the Vatican, but not the Pope.

Thank YOU! it's so refreshing to see someone who's not Agnostic or Athiestic taking a logical stance on this book!

its all about faith for me. what dan brown wrote was his own opinion based on some facts. anybody can do so if he want to create or write his opinion on some known facts. its what you believe in thats important. if you have a strong faith into something, i dont think you will be affected by someone who writes or expresses a different opinion as to what you believed in.

I think the book is total fiction. It says plainly in the Bible that Jesus was not married. I don't think Dan should be punished by us like Salman was by the Muslims because we have freedom of speech. Although at some point I think Dan may have some explaining to do to someone higher up (if you know what I mean).

Excuse me, where exactly in the Bible does it say plainly that Jesus was not married? I don't believe this is correct at all.

That's not true at all. You should research your facts before saying such things! The theories postulated in the Da Vinci Code and Holy Blood, Holy Grail were not new theories by any stretch of the imagination. Check into the Rosecrutian Order, which is a VERY real organization before you start talking about things like that!

Honestly, the fact that Jesus was married or not does not make any difference to his stature. All he preached was love and affection. I don't know how our perception of him would change if he happened to be married. Ultimately he is the Son of God or God himself. So I would really not be bothered.

Ya man all these guys are right.Indeed this book is work of fiction .BUT my friend tell me something..wat is wrong in jesus having a family?? Does that make him human?? Of course not..See im a hindu ,and our hindu gods have wives too and we treat them as goddesses.See if god is our father then there OUGHT to be a mother too..were u born without your mother??Of course not..The concept of female as a OUTCAST thing was advocated in the medival ages..now its 21st century mate! wake up buddy!!

It is supposed to be a good interesting mystery story, it is. It does not claim to be true. The aim of the book is to be entertaining. I think it is a wonderful story. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am also Christian and didn't find anything horrible in the book. Jesus was a historical figure as well as religious and sometimes people like to write about what if...
Marie Antoinette, Anastasia and a myriad of other historical figures have had fictional portrayals made of them.

Why would you want to punish Dan Brown? He has done nothing different than King James, or even the the authors of each of the gosples. To even say that you believe another human should be treated as muslims treat their critics is insane.
You might want to learn aramaic and read the original scrolls yourself instead of beleiving what others have told you about the christian religion. God gave you the ability to reason and you should use it.
