In a few days I am going to fill out an application for an apartment. Does anyone know if me not having any credit at all is going to mess me up in the process of getting my apartment? It's not that I have bad credit, I just don't have any credit, but I did recently just get a credit card and I am making payments on a bedroom set, will that help? Please somebody help me because I don't want to waste my money on the application fee and not get the apartment.

Sometimes no credit is a problem, they say it is as bad as bad credit or too much credit. Only the apartment people can tell you for sure. Everyone considers this differently. Some people like the idea of a non tainted credit report. Call the place and someone should be able to tell you what they consider to be good credit, tell them you have no credit and see what they tell you.

I think that you should be OK. If they check your credit, they will see that you are making regular payments on a credit card, which, by the way, is a great way to start establishing your credit. They will also see that you do not have a history of bad credit reports or missed payments. You may have to provide proof of income or ability to pay, but I'm sure that it should be no problem. I would go ahead and fill out the application. Good Luck! Is this your first apartment alone?

Well, a lot of times what they look for in Applications for an apartment, is Credit History, Work History, and then references from others who know you. Since this is your first apartment, just explain to them where you have lived before, etc. and everything should be fine.

thanks. alot of people tell me that they only check your credit to see if you owe any money to anything.

As long as you are making your payments on time it should be okay. What they don't like to see is bad credit.

I think the best thing to do is explain the situation to the people at the apartments and see what they say. They can tell you better than anybody. I have done this also and they always seem to be more than willing to help you with that before you put your money on the line.
