Bad Teachers!

I had one teacher who told the entire class that i would be the "garbageman", as that was what happened (he said) to students who didn't do their homework. In fact i was regularly scolded in front of this and other classes, ususally for now doing homework but sometimes for not doing something for which i wasn;t reponsible. One teacher watched and didn't say anything to fellow student put a thumb back on my chair. I fortunately missed sitting on the tack and the whole class started at me waiting for my reaction. I am still amazed by today. (this was the 12th grade math class, not in grade school as you might expect. ) i was lousy student but even still...

I don't pay atention to negative comments, that comments are the result of their own frustration, so that words are like nothing to me. We have to set our minds strong because there are people that change the life of others by telling negative words like that.

I strongly agree with your respond. Obviously, people who choose to be so negative towards others are not happy with themselves. And in turn, those of us who encounter such negative behavior need to be bigger than that; take the negative and make them positive.

There are such kind of teachers everywhere in India. Teachers here can just do anything to stamp authority. Even my sister has been a victim of such a teacher. She is a very talkative girl so one day the teacher caught her talking during a lecture. She made her do sit-ups in front of the whole class (at that time she was 16) and cut a bunch of her hair with her scissors. My family and I complained to the principal and got the teacher suspended.

You are definitely right that this teacher was very bad and treated you wrong and is telling students that is what will happen to them too if they do not do homework. I am a teacher and would never say or do anything like that. It gives teachers a bad reputation even though many teachers are wonderful and caring and will do whatever they can to help the students do well and succeed.

Here in Brazil such attitude of a professor is considered CRIME. You must be cliente of its rights, exactly being a pupil, therefore before being pupil you it is a homano being and she deserves respect.

I think in a way that teacher didn't know what they were talking about. Garbage Men make a good amount of money. Probably more then the teacher's wage.

the teacher was basically belittling them..in most places, to be a sanitation worker is like a low form of job..and yeah they do get paid pretty well..

My daughter's Special Ed expert said "well, we always need burger flippers" She now makes waay more than the teacher she's a welder by trade. People who don't fit into wholes created by society are marked as "bad" merely because they march to their own drummer, I don't mean kids who break the rules, I mean kids who just don't fit.Eistein didn't fit, neither did Da Vinci or Van Gogh, but whose laughing now, huh!?

My 3rd grade brother's special ed teacher told him that 'ditch diggers would always be needed and he was certainly going to be one' as I entered his classroom to get him for the bus (I was in 6th grade then. I turned immediately and went down the hall to the principal's office with her behind me yelling my name. My brother had been telling my parents for weeks about the abuse this so-called teacher had been calling him and they wouoldnt believe him. Now I had her and I entered the office and walked right past the secretary's astonished face and into the principal's domain. I repeated what I heard and by then the teacher caught up with me. The principal knew me very well and told me to take my brother home and she would deal with Miss so and so and I did. She never returned to that class or the school again. In fact, he was takened out and sent to a correct class for his needs after a parent-staff meeting with the superintendent of schools after that. Today my brother is one of the head mechanics of the Coca Cola Manufacturing Company lines in Georgia.

That's horrible..especially if the teacher was present when these things were happening. You should have went to the prinicipal. No one has the right to degrade you like that..not even a teacher. You should not have let them get away with that..because they will just do it to someone else...and then the whole terrible ordeal repeats itself and someone else is made to feel horrible. Talk to the school board!

It is really very unfortunate to have a teacher like what you have. In fact teachers should be like parents taking care of the students. In that case he insulted you infront of the whole class. It is really very sad. This types of teachers should be properly trained and then sent for coaching.

In the old days you would get teachers like that, some of them are even today still in the school system. I had a few like those as well. I do think they are a dying breed, though. What I don't get is that an adult can be so ignorant and childish to not realise the effect his words on a child or a teenager's psychological development. Teachers like that should not be in that profession in the first place, but they are usually frustrated as human beings and cannot find another job because they have little other skills. So they are stuck in the system and they only live for their paycheck, abusing the role they have to play as educators. Its sick!

Teachers aren't perfect, but my son's 2nd grade teacher announced to her class 2 weeks before Christmas that there was no such thing as Santa Claus and it was only an imagination of our parent's mind, and she continued to teach after telling that one! God Bless Her

Well no whonder why you were such a bad student. I wouldn't work very ahrd for a crappy teacher either. That's just wrong but unfortunatly it happens all of the tiem usually to male students. My nephews are 15 and 16 and they get treated badley by their teachers also.

Yeah I had a teacher once who would never let us go to the bathroom. I started the rebeling against him and if I asked and he said no I would just go anyways. I understand why he didnt want us to leave class all the time to use the bathroom, but when you gotta go, you gotta go. He was our fill in band teacher and he would always mess up on the piano which I thought was so stupid. If you are here to teach band then you need to be able to play right. He would get mad at us for talking and slam his hands down and the piano all loud and angry like. He just wasnt fit to be a teacher and through these things and other things he would do, he gained no respect from the students and we were always taking advantage of him and misbehaving. Hhe was never able to redeem himself either.

Don't mind what she said to you being a "garbageman", your teacher is not your creator. And try to avoid her saying this to you by doing what she want.

There are more bad teachers out then good one, most likly becasue a starting teachers make less then a garbageman and states all you need to do is pass high and you can be a sub. teacher. The good teachers are off at some ivy league college making good money.

Accordoing to my 10th grade teacher I was a lazy good for nothing student who came from a disenfrancised family and was glad that I was doing so poor because I was only proving myself to the rest of the class. Years later after after the incident with this teacher, and after I became one myself I wrote her a letter explaining how I felt. She responded saying she was sorry and shouldn't have said that. I later learned that she is still subjecting students to this attitude and was caught by a parent calling a student a worthless worm and was fired. I as a teacher would never say anything like this to a student, thier all equal in my eye

I am sorry that you had this expierence in school. I too was the point of ridicule and being picked on with no help from the teachers. Being married to a teacher now I understand why "some" of the things that were done to me had to happen. You have to understand that there are bad apples in every bunch. I had a teacher flat out lie to my family and the other staff right in front of me. I, fortunately, had very straight forward parents that intimidated them and solved the problem but not before a major impact on my occurred. When these things happen to children they loose their self respect and loose trust in all teachers. Most teachers are on the up and up. My wife and I agree that it is not the teacher that makes the decisions anymore. Things that happen in the classroom are now controlled by the school boards and the such. Teachers are constantly getting their hands tied so that they cannot teach properly. Example, my wife was teaching her 5th grade class math, studying for the upcoming state exam. During this time- the kids were excited about their performance and were really working hard. When they finally took the test and the results were final- it turned out that they had the highest test scores in the entire state of Indiana. The principal of the school had it out for my wife based on my utter disgust of her and how she had allowed our son to be mistreated in the same school (1st Grade- another story!)and tried to have my wife fired for cheating. This principal initiated an investigation against my wife and tried to fire her. The problem was, the investigation turned up nothing, my wife was protected due to her union and the fact that she had gotten these study materials from the state because the school was too cheap to get the right materials. Also, we found out later that the main reason the principal was fighting so hard was that the books and learning materials she was pushing and ordering, she had personal interest as well as the school board. If it had been proven that my wife used these materials instead of what she got from the state, the principal and the school board would have made a large profit. Teaching has become a game- the ones that stay in it have alot of patience to deal with overcrowding, low pay, and constant harrassment from the government, school boards, principals, and even parents that allow their children to fall behind. You should also look at your own behavior! Can you honestly say that you did the right thing in school- or just get by?

Reading your message made me think about my school experiences. Opposite to yours, I had teachers that talked down on me because I had the potential of becoming anything I wanted. If I had one teacher that was supportive and encouraging, that was enough. Anyways, having all that negative energy thrown at me day after day, made me stronger and more willing to be someone important in this world. Whether it be in grade school or high school, experiences (whether bad or good) should be our motivation. It seems to me that that teacher either wanted you to fail or wanted you to succeed...what do you think?
