In a response i made to another discussion i thought i world ask your opinion . I heard this on the radio one day and thought it was a great idea in someways. One World no boarders or passports just people of the world . Without boarders there would be not fighting over land we would be free to move and travel at will without passports or visas we would all just become people of the world. would this help in todays society or would it just make things worse. This was suggested before 9/11 so would it have prevented the events of that day . I am very interested to hear your views

Prevented 9/11 it would have exacerbated it! the one world concept strikes me at sinister and possibly the beginning of the end. I prefer borders/passports and the like to the idea that everyone can go everywhere bringing all their germs with them(no passports no vaccinations)

In a perfect world this would be fine, but unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world. The other thing to consider is who is entitled to Government benefits, because they vary from country to country and some countries insist that people cannot own land or other assets unless they are a national of that country. Other nations insist that people follow their strict religious practices, so what happens in those countries. A beautiful thought certainly rosebug, but I do not see it ever happening because the Government of every nation should have the right to refuse entry into their country if they have serious doubts about a person. I will not live long enough to see world peace, with no wars and as an example today I heard on the news that troops from Ethopia have invaded one of their neighbouring countries. So another part of the world is in conflict.

Thank you for your, comments yes it would be far to complicated to even contemplate doing. I have stopped watching the news as i hate hearing all the troubles in the world, the road toll fires ,crime it all gets too much so every now and then i just turn off.

yes, i agree with ossie... each nation started differently... with different laws, different beliefs, different culture... one world would take a great deal of work... who gets to lead? would people have to adapt one religion? which religion? who gets to make the laws? it's already difficult to unite one country perfectly, how much more the whole world? but i agree, it's a very nice idea... one could freely go wherever one wants to go... no passports, visa, etc... :) that is, if every citizen is not a criminal. ;-)

it sounds perfect and ideal, but i don't it would work, were no angels, that would give more avenues for crimes. it would be more difficult to control. for always there would be conflict between people.

i wish if it would have happened, and i wonder if it would ever happen.i always wanted the world to be one,but i afraid this isnot what everybody thinks, specially the politicians who have drawn this border to demarcate people of different countries.if the one-world concept hadbeen true then there would havebeen no wars, less poverty, equal development, and atlast no terrorism.look at the animals, they have no countries they are united and therefore they dont dont have problems among themselves.but we humans have brouught us uhappiness by drawing borders not only on land but also in our heart.

I have commented earlier in this topic that maybe we should be putting all our efforts into freeing the world of disease and poverty and the water shortage . It would be money and effort better spent to help our fellow man who is suffering through no fault of their own.

it could be good also and might be bad too since we can change the world but we cant change the mind of such people who had done things like 9/11 so well good if there is a world were no one needs to be dicriminated by anyone and i think one day it will happen it will take time but one day for sure when world will unite

I agree it would be far to difficult to achieve but as much as i would like to see the world as one or more importantly the people as one it will never happen and i do not believe their will ever be world peace or everyone equal . It is a sad thought but the world has had fighting between countries ,religions and had civil wars for centuries. Peace is what we all want but i think if we put our efforts into curing the world of disease, famin and water shortage we would be able to help more people than trying to stop wars and fighting . Poverty in third world countries could be eliminated if they had the resouses to feed themselves and grow crops to make money there lives would change dramaticly . There will always be a certain amount of poverty. We will never be completely free of poverty but we couldbring the third

It's impossible to do with all of the terrorists etc. There are people starving in Africa and dying every second because of a simple illness because they live in a third world country. Once we help them and are at an equal level in terms of independence and with money then we can think about this "one world" idea. But even if this does happen, which is unlikely, it is just giving big countries different names. Here is how it works now: Earth, Continent, Country, State/Province, City, Community ... Here is what it will be: "ONE WORLD", continent, State/Province(previously countries)....... There is just no point Too many different views on the better government etc to even consider it

We already have one world, it's the one we created, it's not the Earth that is the LIving, natural domain. Even if you want one world, no borders, no passports, no difference, it won't solve Human World Problems. There would always be those that want Peace, and those that want to rebel, we are instinctive/territorial creatures, not robotic followers, that is why we can't have it this way. If you want this vision, everyone should have their conscious processing systems removed at birth and we can roam the world sniffing each-others butt's to see if we are ripe for reproduction. Or back to the hunter gatherer days. From day dot, we had territories, all animals have territories, we are just a conscious mammal, remember that, Peace is only possible inside yourself, transcend the need to be the same and you are no longer the same, transcend the need to be different and you will no longer be different. Peace to All.

It is a nice concept. I just don't think it will work, although I wish it would. Central American countries opened their borders to countries of Central America but as is usual in such undertakings there is one hold out, Costa Rica. Why? Because Costa Rica doesn't want to get flooded with people from the other Central American countries that want to go there looking for a better life and a job. This is just an example of why it won't happen in this part of the world. I am sure the same scenario is played out in many different parts of the world.

It is an interesting concept but I think it is the religion that seems to be the problem some people are so set on their own beliefs and make it so public, I am not religious so I don't really know where they are coming from, and also I think greed would prevent the no borders theory somehow. There has to be answer out there somewhere but until the dogmattingness has gone I can't see it.

It is interesting to think of the world this way no boarders but you are right it is the religious that seem to be causing all the problems ,strange religion seems to be the cause of so much of the troubles in the world yet it preaches quite the opposite. centuries of history have to be forgotten and forgiven before the world can ever find peace

I really don't know it might have done but is it just over land and things like that or does it go deeper then that because I think now it has a lot to do with religion to

Yes religion seems to cause many more problems than it solves so maybe instead of one world we should have one religion

I think it sounds like the ideal world. One world, united. It's the theme of some of the disaster films like Comet or Armageddon or even some of the alien invasion movies - where the world has to unite against a common enemy. Isn't it sad that it would most likely take an event like that to unite the world? But your premise sounds like a wonderful world to me.

Unfortunately, I think boundaries are necessary, although there are some of us that would always respect anothers privacy, possessions, and space. There are those among us that I believe, would covet what others might have. I think there are those among us that would take advantage of the opportunity to move about freely, and use that privilege for personal gain. And I think others would still take advantage of that freedom to try to force their belief[whatever that might be] on others. I just don't think we are at all ready to embrace that concept yet...SS

There are no border lines any where on the earth or water. They are only on the paper and in the offices. They are not physical and they are only imaginery. Nothing happens. The world will move on. There will be different facilities and different difficulties. There will be nothing to lose at the lowest end and there will be losing at the highest end as there can not be too many presidents, prime ministers, kings and queens even though there can be many more ranks of second order or below but there can be only one at the fisrt order or highest level.

Borders are more that just seperating countries. Countries have borders within borders because they have opinions that differ from those within their own countries. Taking away borders would definitely make things far worse. The borders are in our minds as well and they can only be taken down one person at a time. You and I don't know each other but we have our belief systems in place. Now either of us could be friends but as soon as religion or politics arrive on the scene we find borders starting to show. I think we have many more years of pain and heartache before we will be able to really become a global community.

talking about any concept that is mere dream is of no use.. As at all if we imagine a world called "one world" we cant find any kind of seperation.by seperation i mean we get a proper identity for each individuals.that is we get a proper address for us..and it becomes easy if it is country wised.. i have read in some discussion that this seperation is due to religion..i would like to make that point clear that this seperation is not at all due to religion.. The seperation is just a way of handling this world.. conclusion--"there would have been one world if the word seperation has not been found"

Men are beasts by nature and though it may sound like a good idea but with in the presaent scenario, it will lead to rise of another hitler or napolean like figure. Mainly because without any regulations it will be very easy to increase economic invasion of the other country. which is waht the third war is all about. we are not civil by nature, we are grewedy and selfish and people will exploit this scenario for personal revenges and rewards.

I would like that. Then all would be equal and belong just to the world - not to a country =) But just like someone else said, the religion is probably what is causing most problems and it will never be possible for us all to belive in the same thing!

I don't think it would ever happen. That would take a lot of concessions by many countries and I just don't think it would ever be possible to get that many countries to make anything significant. People would still have problems over land because people still have to have land. There would still be social problems because there would still be different types of people and cultural values. The only way that could be reconciled is with one race.

It would never work, because the biggest problem are peoples belives and their religion. World peace is a nice dream so.
