Why are people afraid of death even though it's inevitable?

Why are people afraid of death even though it's inevitable? All life must end sometime. No body is guaranteed an eternal living. Yet most of the people are afraid of death. Death is also part of our life cycle. Some say its the beginning of another life. What do you think?
