Toyota. The number of vehicles sold every year is evidence enough. Build quality is also top notch. My family's first car was a late 70's or early 80's corona 2 door and up to now it's still working like a charm. Design wise Toyota is better, Nissan had to hire foreign designers just to design the 350Z

My pick is Nissan. Basically for two reasons: 1. they created the 240sx, the first car I owned and loved; and 2. our Toyota Camry that is less than 7 years old has had to have the transmission replaced, and the dealership was not willing to help fix it (that's pretty stupid for a "still new" car).

Mr. Areeb...I've owned three Nissan vehicles, two of them were passenger cars and the other was a pickup. I've also owned two toyota cars. The first Japanese car I bought was a "violet nissan" 1600 cc. The reason why I bought the car was because of the salesman. Just before walking into the nissan showroom, I had walked into a toyota show room and started looking at the cars. Can you believe that not even one sales rep. man or woman budged from their chairs. I was wondering around the showroom opening car doors and sliding in and out of the various new cars on display!! I just walked out of that showroom and walked into a nissan showroom just a few buldings down the road. The moment I walked in, a salesman literally jumped on me and walked me around showing off all his cars!! I bought a nissan!! I was a nissan fan for many years. bought our second nissan car. The car never let me down. It was the nissan service center that let me down badly. To make a long story short...once I bought the nissan over to the service center to have the radiator checked and cleaned, just before going on a long journey. The radiator blew 130 km. on a lonely stretch of highway causing a warped upper cylinder head. Found out later on the one of the mevchanics who added water to the radiator twisted the plastic water plug on the bottom of the radiator too tightly causing it to snap off. He did it twice and had to get new plastic plugs from the "store". It happened a third time. But this time, it wasn't a clean break. He used plastic glue to fix the plug. Also part of the plastic pugs were in the radiator and blocked the thermostat. My car was ruined and nissan woul not replace the engine. My car was never the same. I sold the car and bought a toyota. The moment I had a test drive in the toyota, I could feel the difference.
Toyota: Solid and firm steering, road hugging, sure footed.
Nissan: Light steering, left and righ pull on uneven roads.
Toyota: smooth suspension, less body sway on curves.
Nissan: bumpy suspension, greater body sways on curves.
Toyota: consumes more fuel, wider turning radius.
Nissan: consumes less fuel, shorter turning radius. Now I prefer Toyota. The toyota company has more nationwide distributors. Toyota spare parts are readily available on the market. The toyota company has the hightest vehicle sales in the country. Toyota cars also have a higher resale value. What about in your country?
