I am a network engineer too, maybe we can share our opinions on networking issues and stuffs together, me also hope to start a discussion on configurations of cisco routers, switches and other networking stuffs.
So we can help one another when face problems.

router is used to route one LAN to other LAN....means one LAN is 192.168.0.0 and other is 10.13.0.0 so u can route one LAN to other thorugh router and routing tables or routing protocols.
but switch can be used in one LAN only. If u go for managed switches or 3 layer switches that are used for VLAN.
its a gr8 difference means if u want to connect Delhi to Indore than I think router is must and u can not connect 2 lans with the help of switch....
if more queries are there u r welcome....

CCNA- Cisco Ceritified Network Associate....This course contains mainly how to configure cisco routers. what commands to puta dn where and how to make any specific WAN, where which router is best ike this...
I think CCNA is better for a network administrator /network engineer....

as for the ccna cert, the best way to pass is read items in pass4sure at least 2 or 3 times, but be careful for some wrong answers though,
that's the only thing that ive read for 2 days before the ccna exam and i passed with 987/1000..

i have two inquiries.
1) i have an old pc connected to the internet using external dsl device but i want to transfer to new pc, is it ok to just copy the configuration saved on my old pc to the new pc even though i don't have the software (disc) that was installed by technician (haven't saved on my harddrive) on my old pc considering mac address and other device signature, i think the headend office would detect wrong signature? and the result would be futile. does caller id count? the telephone co. is also the ISP.
2) what are the equipment needed to connect to the Net (free internet) using directTV satellite dish receiving only cable signal? i know it isn't easy to find splitter and cable modem and the rest of needed devices in local computer store but i just want to ask?
thank you.

1) it depends on how ur DSL is connected presently on existing PC....if ur DSL can be programed ....then I think it will work if u just put ur old IP config to new PC and connecte DSL to new PC ....
if DSL can not be prgramed than i think DSL software to be installed I think....
As i know most of the DSl are self programed just try once..to shift in new PC and configure TCP/ip setting of new PC as old one.
2) I think u need some specific modem which has TV port and lan port both...TV port is to be connected to cable comes at ur premises and lan port will be connected to PC or hub or switch.
if more queries are there u r welcome........
