Have you ever slept out in a tent in your backyard?

My children have decided this would be a good idea to do tonight. I am waiting to see how long they last out there. Did you ever do this a child?

I have done it many times growing up. Sometimes without the tent, just in a sleeping bag. It's a lot of fun.

The children ended up sleeping in the loungeroom in their sleeping bags. I think I remember chickening out a bit at their ages when I wanted to sleep out.

:-) I tried that one summer when I was 7, with my neighbour Beatrice. Mum was a bit worried and kept coming out to check on us, and eventually I let her convince me to come back inside. It was great fun though, but it did end up getting a bit cold later:-)

Well I will close this conversation pretty quick I think because they have come inside now and want to sleep in the sleeping bags in the lounge room. Sounds more sensible to me..haha

My kids did that after getting a tent for Christmas from Santa, and we bought them sleeping bags. We left the front door open for them, and kept a good eye on them. They stayed there all night, and wanted to do it again.

See above comment. I don't mind the kids doing it but I love my bed. I'll have a BBQ or something like that and then head off to my own bed.....

I loved to sleep out in the tent when I was younger. I didn't do it until I was about 14 and I had a few friends stay with me. It was a lot of fun but it makes you appreciate your bed so much more.lol.

Well I don't think they will last too long once the lights go out. They are aged 5 to 12 and it was all fun early on in the evening, but I think they'll be inside the house soon as it is 10pm here.

I used to do this alot as a child. When I was around 10 years old I had a slumber party and we stayed in a tent in the back yard. We had a great time. We stayed out in the tent the whole night. My mom had made us treats and drinks to have. My dad had set up Christmas lights for us to plug in if we got scared. They made a path to the house from the back yard.

Your wait will go in waste. Becoz u will find that they will complet eth ewhole night at there. It will be nice to sleep out in a tent in your house backyard or even some other place. U know the logic and reason behind it. CHANGE IN PLACE WILL CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS AND MIND AND U WILL FIND A CHANGE IN YOUR ATTITUDE AND CHANGE IN YOUR HAPPINESS. TRY IT U WILL FIND

When we lived on the farm, my kids always slept in the yard in a tent. What wonderful place are you that yours can do this in December? Did they make it all night? These are some of the best memories ever and one of the reasons my 4 are so close. Good job letting your kids have adventure and independence!

It is summer in December in Australia. Not as hot in Tasmania as in some of the other states though.

I never slept outside in a tent as a child. But after I was married we went a vacation with my sister and her husband, and our kids. To save motel expensives we did some camping out.I did not think it would be much fun, but I really enjoyed it.We even cooked our breakfest over a camp fire.

I think if I was to camp I would have to have a really comfortable and warm bunk. I do love the campfire cooking though.
