About to quit smoking, buddies needed and any success stories

In late 2004 my other half and I quit smoking. Almost a year later we started again. Stupid, stupid, stupid! So, we're quitting again and January 1st is Quit Day. If anyone else is about to quit smoking and would like to buddy up with me on this, it would be great. I really think it helps to have a compadre who is also miserable. ;) Last time we used the patch but we're going to try it with nothing this time and get patches if we really need them. Also, if you've quit smoking, would you please share your best tips with those of us who are just quitting or will be soon?
