How do you tell a friend that their body odor is not that great?

I don't want to offend them, how do I go about it without making him upset. He doesn't take care of himself and it's hard when we go out and he's thier. This is a touchy issue as he takes everything personal.

This is a very unusual case of bad smell. A friend in college used to wash her hair with sour curd. I admit that her hair was healthy and shiny, but the smell was unbearable. She would come near us and invariably flip her hair, leaving us gasping for breath.
But when things got unbearable, we asked her the secret of her lovely hair. When she told us about the sour curd funda, all of us shouted in chorus, “But it stinks”. She was confused. She smelt her locks and agreed that it was unpleasant. Since then, she stopped using curd on her hair.Just tell your friend openly i am sure he will understand that you are saying it for his own good.

He never changes his clothes or baths on a regular basis. He never takes criticism well. He is also oblivious, he never gets jokes he never gets it. I would try the direct approach but I don't know how to go about doing it.

We tried that but he just didn't get it. He said maybe somebody is burning something in the kitchen. He just didn't get it.
