Nuclear weapons-constructive or destructive????

hey,
in todays world we say that the science is progressing at a very rapid speed &
working towards the integration of global development.
then i don't understand that whether nuclr weapons
protect us or helps in fearing people about future.
what do u think ,
where is it heading??????

yeah i think it would be both because u see this nuclear weapons will be usefulll for war purpose as well as u can see kalapakkam nuclear power plant which serves as good medium for supplying electricity so i say it is both good and bad
