http://www.topamax.com/ Topamax is generally prescribed as a migraine medication, but my neurologist has me taking it to ease "nerve pain". Basically I have a whole bunch of issues- I've been tested for Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, and some other ailments. MRI showed nothing, a nerve conduction, ekg and other tests showed nothing, blood tests have so far shown nothing.. but I have pain in my body, joints, etc. So the Neuro has me taking 25mg a day. I do have frequent headaches (which this has helped with), but it has also helped with pain in my body (especially in my left arm) as well.
This med does have some interesting side effects (most concerning to me being the possibility of developing kidney stones). I have lost about 10 pounds since starting it, too. I have read some real nightmares on some websites, though.. really bad reactions people have had to it, including eye problems. (I myself got sick recently, just after the Neuro bumped me up to a double dosage. Probably because my immune system was compromised, I ended up with a rash all over my stomach, and my hands and feet got that "pins and needles" feeling a couple hours after taking my pills. My hands felt HUGE. It was bizarre. So I went back down to 1 dose. :( )
What are your experiences with this medication? If any?

havent experience that kind of sickness...plss pray harder to God if you believe in Him...it may ease up your symptoms..faith can heal or move mountains as the saying goes...good luck..think positive and dont ever think that you have an illness and it will go away..

My Neuro has me on Topamax, 200mg a day for it. I've been checking around and haven't found anyone else that is taking it. I was on Neurontin and I couldn't stay awake on it. Now I'm able to stay awake, but the pain is still at a level of 4-7 almost all the time!

Yes, the neurontin didn't do much for me, but staying awake was horrible.. so she suggested taking it right before bed. ok, great suggestion, but it still didn't do anything for me. The topamax has the same effect, pretty much. I only take it at night, a couple of hours before I go to bed. I am supposed to be up to 50 mg a night, but after having a bad reaction (or at least what I thought was one), I only took 50 mg the two days or so, then went back to one a day. Now the doctor has prescribed me some muscle relaxers, because I'm having muscle spasticity. Basically my leg muscles (and some elsewhere) are freaking out on me even when I'm not doing anything. It's quite bizarre. I'm only 32. This is ridiculous!!
