I will be going for my weekend venture this weekend. I have decided that D.C. would be a great little getaway. Does anyone have any ideas as to what to do or where to stay?

I just moved from the DC area and I can say that DC has some of the greatest tourist attractions. You must do of course all the tourist things like go see The White House, The Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Air and Space Museum, etc. As far as a place to stay, Im not sure. I lived there so I didnt have a need to find a hotel and whenever we had friends visit, they would stay at our house. Maybe somebody else will help you on that one.
Have a great trip!

Thank you for the response. I saw everything you have here except the Air & Space Museum. I didn't "prepare" myself as I probably should have. The traffic was a bit much, but the place is actually really wonderful. The buildings there are beautiful. The White House although I have seen this many times in pictures is definately a must see in person. The best was the night when everything was lit. It was an amazing site to see....glad I thought to visit this.

D.C. is a great place to visit! There is so much to do there, for example the Smithsonian Museums are free to visit, there are free performances at 6 pm daily at the John F. Kennedy performance center, they have great food in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, and of course the Shakespeare Theater. Have fun and let us know what you ended up doing :)
