Well, there are many advantages of Linux. It is free (Windows is around £90), it is open source (loads of versions to suit you), it is easyish to use, you just need to get used to it and most of all it is really fast, due to its very basic system layout.
Anyway, that is Linux. Now I know many of you won't know how or can't be bothered portioning off part of your Hard Drive to install Linux just to see what it is like, so I have found a great alternative to doing this and you can carry a whole operating system in your pocket!!So, what I did was I installed Linux on my 2Gb pen drive that I got for Christmas!!. I downloaded Firefox and am now happy!I highly recommend it for anyone who has a pen drive as it is something to do and it is quite cool.
It is really easy to do. Format the drive and put some files on and you are ready. Just boot from the USB and it works.
If you want a really good step by step tutorial go here:

The only downside that I have found (and it is REALLY annoying) is that whenever you re-boot it it refreshes and completely wipes anything that you download/edited/saved whatever.
It is just a nice alternative to portioning parts of your Hard Drive to see what Linux is like. Also could be useful for school...:)
Anyway check it out.
What do you all think and will any of you actually try this?
