America is falling behind because of our GREED.

Europe is so far ahead of us in the fight to find alternate energy sources it's not even funny.Germany has given it's citizens tax breaks to allow them to purchase solar panels for thier homes. Spain has a law that all new buildings must include solar energy. Denmark has prototype wind turbine that will power 5000 homes. This is just a few of the things going on in Europe. Right there in the good ol' U S of A we are doing nothing but fighting a war over oil. Drilling new wells, and releasing our precious oil reserves. What is wrong with America. Frankly I think it is our greed. Who's goona make money off of a country powered by the sun? Not the government. George Bush won't be making any money if we quit buying his oil. The oil companies made more many in one quarter than half of the Americans income put together would amount to. If we as americans were more self sufficient and energy efficient we would have more power over our government and more power as consumers. I understand that if we all go out and buy solar panels and find alternately fueled vehicles our economy would fall flatter than a pancake. But that is the fault of our government for not working on making changes and helping us transition. We are so far behind I don't know if it's possible for us to catch up. What do you guys think we can do?

I think more of us need to make environmentally responsible choices. It's up to us to start sending louder messages to corporations, and our governments that we take our health, our air and water, the food and products that we consume very seriously. And I do believe that this message is going out. Loads of people are recycling, carpooling, purchasing more and more items that are organically grown, and prepared products whose components are all 'USDA' certified. It's becoming easiers and less expensive to obtain these products now, than it was just 3 years ago. Look how much more accessible fuel efficient cars are becoming, and ethanol has become a component that is combined with gasoline. I know it seems like a slow start but I do believe it is happening. And I noticed a post, that included a link to a site that was offering a program that made solar paneling available and reasonably priced, however it is not available everywhere in the US. I think the 'revolution' is coming whether or not our corporations and gov't is ready for it...SS

Yes I suppose we will eventually get there with thier help or not. Thanks for your comment. There are alot more products available for those of us that prefer more natural foods and so forth. It just sucks to live in a nation that is supposedly run by the people and it so onviously isn't.
