IPOD vs. MP3 PLAYERS-ANY BRAND

OK I am about to admit that technology is about to pass me by completely but I am rather fasinated with the thought of owning one of these devices. I love music of all types. I have downloaded over 4000 pcs. of music on my computer. But... everyone on the planet seems to have one of these devices except me. My sister has recently purchased "SanDisk" brand and swears by it for her children. She had heard some bad stuff on "IPOD". WHen I go online to check prices and sizes, 3 hours later I am just overwhelmed and confused. I would like some input from the masses on what is recommended?, what to watch out for? Do you buy the extended warranty?, Do I need all the accessories (I.E. case, ear buds, docking station, external speakers etc.... I want to listen at work, and in my car mostly. I don't need it at home because I have it all on my computer. So- what's the best one to buy? I would love to be able to download videos and Podcasts etc, but not necessary. Money up to about $300 is not over the budget, and I need it to be very user friendly. So help me decide what is best for me? I would appreciate any inout or advise. Thanks jacki
