Are you depressed do you ever wonder why you feel so down? do ever wonder What depression is and how it affects your life... Studies have shown that the feeling of depression are caused by a chemical change that affects brain functions...The brain is made up of billions of nerve cells called neurons which receive and control messages from the body...neurotransmitters are responsible for the emontional state...You become depressed when the chemical messages aren't being delievered correctly between brain cells which is disrupting communication.

I became depressed over various reasons:
(1) over ten years ago, my older sister had her kids taken away. I was also close with them and when we weren't able to maintain custody of them, I fell into a depression.
(2) I used to lay down all the time due to our money situation.
(3) My teenage daughter was recently in trouble with the law then had to be sent away to a program for nine months. I was doing pretty good with my depression til this came up.

That is very interesting I have found myself getting very depressed a lot lately, but I am trying to ride them out as I don't want to take medication as many do.

That is a good beginning but there is more to depression than that. Environment, stress, anxiety, social pressure, emotional loss, medication reactions, seasonal changes and more are factors in depression. The imbalance you are talking about come about from an imbalance of serotonin and other hormones. Depression is as different as people who experience it.
