All singers in myLot, stand up and respond as proactively as you can to help others improve upon their singing talents and nurture it to a greater extent. This does help a lot coz a lo of them do really wanna improve on it

This is a great discussion for me as my grade school music teacher told me to sit down and never try and sing again. What a miserable......... :) I believed her and did just that, well except when now one was within ear shot. At age 47 I bought a guitar and started learning with a few friends that actually encouraged me to play. I haven't looked back except to wonder why I never started earlier. Anyways to get to my point. I started singing at home as I practiced and I have even sang a couple of songs at our jams. Once you start you can improve by practicing to stay in tune. The more you practice and stay in tune the longer and louder you can sing and eventually you will improve. La la la

I've been taking voice lessons for about 8 years, and the things that have helped me the most are learning to sing with my soft pallet raised (try saying "na na na" in a sing-songy voice like you are teasing someone to get the feeling). Also, learing how to hold my body in alignment, but without stiffness. Probably the most important was learing to put the emotion into my song and obsess less about technique. Of course, I sing opera, so some of the more pop-oriented people might have different ideas!

I think practice make things perfect, if you regularly practice your singing daily, you can improve it, try to increase your range day by day, by singing at higher pitch everytime. It will definitely improve your range. I could do with a month's practice.

I've found that eating pineapples or drinking citrus-y drinks before I sing helps my voice improve greatly. Also don't do it in excess. There IS such a thing as too much of a good thing..but never give up on it, take small breaks. Let sore throats heal..and then pick it up again. I'm not a prophessional either..I've just been trying to improve my voice ever since on of my best friends told me she loved the way I sang lol. Because I knew their was room for improvement.

Exercising can help improve stamina. Good for those who get sort of tired easily. Makes your voice louder as well. In the long run. As mentioned way above, use your diaphragm when singing. Don't use your lungs. You'll be well out of breath if you use your lungs. And if you find it hard to reach the higher notes, bend down (with your knees straight, that is.)and sing that note. Remember the amount of air you have to push from your stomach or the amount of strength you had to use, and do that again when you stand upright.

First of all, I would have to say to sing more. I started only a few months ago and already have much more control over my voice just from singing more than I ever have before.
