Are Personal Masage Gadgets really used for Massages v. More Personal Uses?

I received a Personal Massager for Christmas. It was somewhat of a gag gift, but I have to ask myself as I look at the device if these things are really used by other people for personal massages of sore muscles, backs, shoulders, arms and things, or are these things really used for purposes of a more primal nature? I mean they are typically rather average at truly providing a good back massage, but their round designs and things make them much more likely personal pleasure utensils. What would or do you use these things for? BTW I have a friend that used to be an engineer for a consumer electronics company that made many of these things. They marketed them for personal massage purposes, but throughout the company many people including the engineers thought that these were used for pleasurable reasons. My engineer friend was a female for what its worth. . . .

I think they do actually work as great massagers for the tired and over stressed body... and some of us are lucky enough to be able to de-stress in multiple ways!!!! lol Who am I to knock a product that brings moans and groans in any form? Some enjoy it to relase muscles and aches... others ... well.. muscles and aches too if you think about it! lol

You express a great deal of wisdom in your response. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck on my dog threads and can't think of an intelligent reply right now. lol

What is a Massage Mat? I've never heard of one of those. Does it vibrate or is it just something to lie on while you receive a massage?
