just because you liked the name? MY son is named after his father Kevin James. That is what he always wanted. My oldest daughter is named after a character in a book Ayla Marie. I fell in love with the name Ayla after watching a movie and reading the book Clan of the Cave Bear. For me that name represents streinght considering the he!! that Ayla i nthe book went through. My middle daughter is named in honor of my chhild hood best friend Alyssa Starr. We were inseperable. We did everything together untill I went to high school then we kinda fell appart. My way of remembering her was to name my daughter after her. Our youngest daughter is named after my husbands great grandmother and iss and my mothers middle name Amanda Ann. Amanda is my husbands great grandmother's middle name and both of our mothers middle names are Ann. We wanted to keep those names in the family. When we chose Amanda originally we did not know it was his great grandmothers middle name. My husbands grandmother was present when we announced the name and she was so excited she almosed bounced out of her chair. She was so honored that we picked her mothers middle name. What meaning does your childrens name have for you and your family? How did you decide on those names? What if any were your other choices?

My ex and I had all sorts of troubles coming up with names for our kids. One boys name I had always liked my sister in law ended up taking so that crossed that name off the list - thankfully we both really liked the one other boys name - and he has my exes first name as his middle name. With the girls (twins) we ended up going through the newspaper while I was in the delivery room trying to come up with and decide on two boys and two girls names :-) - the first girl got my middle name as her middle name and the second girl ended up with a middle name that I kind of always liked :-) Wow does that sound bad when I read that everone else has some wonderful traditions and customs etc?

I dont have any kids as of yet but I do have names though of for when I have them and they are kinda for a reason. If I have a girl the name I like is close to my name and a very pretty name, as for a boy its just a name I like no real deep reason.

In our religion we have to choose names with good meanings and also depending on when the child is born if the name suits the month. We'll choose from a list of names and their meanings show it to the local priest and from there he will advise which are good solid names and are appropriate to give. My daughter's name is Aaliyah - most sublime, tall, high

It is different in the way to pick kids names in China. We never pick a name which has the same words as our eldership except the first name, because it is regarded as an disrespect to our elderships. most of the name is composed of two or three words, one is the first name, and the rest are the second name. we often choose the words from the old poems. sometimes one word of the second name was decided by our forfater. I think the difference is because the structure of Chinese words has large difference from English words.

Child #1: His name is Tyler Jay.We picked Tyler because we liked it and Jay was picked because it is a family name on his dad's side. Alternate names could have been Timothy or Joshua. His tentative girl name would have been Jocelyn Morgan. Child #2: His name is Benjamin Edward. Benjamin is a name i have always loved. Edward is to honor my dad. He was almost named Caleb Joseph, but was changed last minute. His tentative girl name would have been Susannah Quinlan. Child #3: His name is Evan Joseph. Evan was a name we both could agree on. Joseph is after my husband. Alternate names could have been Ethan or Ian. His tentative girl name would have been Hannah Noelle. Child #4: Her name is Teresa Adelaide. Teresa is a long lasting family name on my side. Its also my confirmation name. Adelaide is my grandmother's middle name, and a name i've always loved. She had no alternative names, as we had this name picked pre-conception. Her tentative boy name would have been Charles Knox.

In our country naming tradition is if daughter born name is keeping matching first letter of mother's or grandmothere's name and for son then first letter of grandfather or father but cute and meaningful. If no matching is found then name similar with name of prophet as per muslim religion. I heared that in china most name begin with Chang and in Bangaldesh most name begin with Mohammad. My daughter's nick name is Anny

I think that naming your child is one of the most important things that you can do. I put a lot of thought into all my kids' names and the one that stands out for being specific to a certain character is Sabrina-named for the character in the same-named movie.

My name is Soren Amcil. I was first name is after the Danish Philosopher Søren Aabye Kierkegaard since she was writing a thesis about the philosopher when she gave labor to me; the Amcil in my name is a combination of the names of my parents : Amy and Cecilio. I named my daughter generically, I thought of her as a princess so I named her Princess Amcil, as a tribute to my parents who raised me with unconditional love.
