Left handedness

What fraction of total world population are left handers? 10 % or even less than that. Why is it so? Nature prefers symmetry. Balance/equilibrium is the basic principle behind every other thing in the universal. Then what is the reason behind this imbalance? Scientific as well as philosophical reasonings are welcome.

there are no philosophical reasons for left handedness. i remember reading that left handedness is caused during the development of the baby the mothers womb. I dont know what conditions make this occur. A left handed person may know be able to help us.

Nature prefers symmetry, right? Symmetry, balance or equilibrium is the basic princuple behind any stable system. Then waht might be the reason behind this asymmetry. Why does nature contradicts her laws in this particular case? Answer to this is what I call a philosophical reasoning.
