How to store bananas

Is it advisable not to store bananas in the refrigerator? I have seen that their skins turn black. Any advice to prevent this?

let the banana be there in open & they will take care of themslves.

But, still the skin turns black. I want to know some tips to prevent it from getting black.

Best way is to hang them with a string so that they do not touch any wall etc in a cool place. My mom used to tell me that. I do not keep them in fridge, I buy sklightly unripe bananas and by next two days they are ready to eat and gone too.
