help needed-wanna buy a electric guitar-advise

hey hi i'm planin on learnin to play d guitar...n am planin on startin my own band too(will b playin d lead)....so pls suggest a good electric guitar for learners and also dat doesnt go too hard on my pockets!!also let me knw if d guitar needs an amp. n wat else wld i need?pls help.
