At BAE Systems Ship Repair, we believe it’s management’s job to serve our employees. Through our People are Important philosophy, adopted by all of our shipyards, we’ve empowered our workers to achieve new levels of excellence, instilling in them a greater sense of pride and achievement in their work. Our managers ask their employees every day if there is anything they can do to help them do their jobs more efficiently. You can tour any one of our shipyards and see evidence of “People are Important.” Each department and shop is responsible for responding to employee requests and implementing them, if possible. To date, throughout our network of shipyards, over 12,000 employee requests and concerns have been addressed and actions taken. A long-awaited 850 space parking facility has been built. A state-of-the art training center is now fully operational at our San Diego Ship Repair facility. Our buildings have been remodeled, new bathrooms have been built and existing ones have been redone at all of our shipyards. New lunch areas, paved parking spaces, extensive landscaping and remodeled offices have been constructed. One of our Shipyards features a fully equipped fitness center, complete with the latest exercise equipment, showers and dressing rooms for men and women, locker rooms and a sauna.
