"Communications cut off after powerful earthquake shakes southern Taiwan" Thats the headline on two days ago. The outcome from it was that it badly damaged the undersea fiber optic cables which were uses to carrying traffic between China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, the U.S. and the island itself. That had causes the largest outages for the asia region communications services and which the internet services was the main concern for most of users as too many were rely too much on it.Was this due to lack of appropriate emergency management or can this be prevent with today's advance technologies in future?

When nature creates havoc any disaster management becomes helpless because the manpower and money required for this operation is very huge. In fact US with all its might failed when katrina hit the seashore towns.

Yeah its no ways any disaster management an really handle it perfectly in term of costs that count and I think the only hope or wish for those natural disaster to be well prevent will very much depend on those very advance technologies in hope that it can be predicts more accurate in future. Thanks for your respond.

Critical systems need backups in case of failure, did they have a backup that failed as well?, or did they discover all over again, that you should not put all your eggs in one basket.

I agreed that every critical equipments should have a contingency plan but for something like nature disaster I think sometimes its still unpredictable and the only thing can be done by technologies is to prevent them to it fullest as to minimize the damages. Thanks for your respond.
