"Communications cut off after powerful earthquake shakes southern Taiwan" Thats the headline on two days ago. The outcome from it was that it badly damaged the undersea fiber optic cables which were uses to carrying traffic between China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, the U.S. and the island itself. That had causes the largest outages for the asia region communications services and which the internet services was the main concern for most of users as too many were rely too much on it.Was this due to lack of appropriate emergency management or can this be prevent with today's advance technologies in future?

I agreed that every critical equipments should have a contingency plan but for something like nature disaster I think sometimes its still unpredictable and the only thing can be done by technologies is to prevent them to it fullest as to minimize the damages. Thanks for your respond.
