It honestly depends whether or not the relationship ended on purpose, if it ended badly, or great.

I used to use bye a lot without thinking. I said goodbye to my daughter last time last year and I never thought "goodbye" and "I love you" were hardest things to say. I havent useed goodbye lately, I dont like using it anymore so I start using "I will talk to you later" or "see you"
