Why do people start having grey hairs so young? My hair started turning grey when I tunred 30. By mid 30, I have to colour it. Why do the grey hairs come early? Is it due to stress? diet? Is there a cure?

No, grey hairs are not due to stress and/or diet but they are genetic unfortunately and the darker your hair the more the grey hairs will show up. I had a few grey hairs in my 30's and managed to 'cover' them by keeping my hair short and having tips put in. LOL
Since that time they have increased but I have done nothing at all about them on the basis that I have 'earned' every one of them. At other times I tell our son (aged 30) that he is the cause of each and every grey hair that I have and he responds 'it is the job of every child to give their parents grey hairs'. LOL
Sadly, no there isn't a cure for it.

I heard it was because of stress and worry. I starting having a few here and there when my son was born, but I pulled them. There were only three or so, so it wasn't bad.

I started having grey hairs in my teens but it went away after I started working. It came back when I took up a part time course when I was in my late 20s - this time it didn't go off. I have learnt to accept it although I do dread having to colour my hair so often. I find it a chore but like I say earlier I should still rejoice in the fact that I have hair - better than many who have few hairs.

Mmmm.... just enjoy your hair colour in the meantime and pray that it will not be passed on to your generation.

The women in my family get grey hair at early ages. My Mom was 19, I was 17, my daughter was 13. My mother never colored her hair. I've been coloring mine since I was 17 and my daughter started coloring hers in her early 20s when she got married. We both still color it today. In our case, I think it's hereditary, and I wonder about any other causes. As for a cure, all I know is to color it.

Oh... you've got it so young. My mum has grey hairs in her early 40s but my dad's hardly grey when he was in his 60s. Guess, I have inherited all my mum's genes....

You are right - perhaps it's really a combination of all the different factors....

Why? Isn't that good? If it's for fashion, you may have to bleach it but that's bad for your hair. My suggestion is be contented, happy and thankful that you have got healthy hair and you've got hairs!

Yes and so it was said. I hope it will be fashionable for a long period so that I can stop dying my hair for a while. That would be really good!!

No I think it's just genetic and of course the darker your hair is the more they will show. If your hair is lighter you may still have them in your late twenties/early thirties but they just won't be that noticeable. My hair is naturally dark brown and I started getting them in my late teens. Just the odd one here and there but it freaked me out!

I got curious, so I looked around to see what I could find. While they do say it's genetic, no one is sure just how it all connects. In reality, hair usually starts to turn gray around 30 for men and 35 for women, although it's so gradual that it's not noticeable until later. If yours is, it's probably just due to an accelerated rate.
