I am buying a laptop in about two weeks, it doesn't need to be fancy, jst a cd burner and wireless internet. I am looking for something that will work but don't want to spend a lot. Dell had previously had one for 499 that I really wanted, but now they have raised the price to 699 so I am shopping around to see what I can find. Any ideas? Thanks!

you can get the same warranty that they offer with new machines and they have one of the best in the business. I just wouldnt recommend vista operating system.

The biggest tip that I can give you is to try and find one that has a warranty. There is no telling what might go wrong with your laptop, and if you are under warranty, it takes away a lot of the risk associated with the purchase. I would also recommend purchasing a machine that has Microsoft Office already installed. Dell is definitely a good place to start your search.

the best brand is normally HP, then toshiba or even apple. also make sure you buy an extended warranty on it. the basic warranty doesnt cover breakage, dropping, viruses.. etc. the warranty that any lap top comes with is the manufacturer warranty which is crap, youll deal with so much crap and get such a headache going through them. You can get a good lap top for even $600... try circuit city or best buy
