The Myth of Human Adaptability

Because us humans seem to be found in every nook and cranny of the planet, anthropoligists have talked about how "adaptable" we are. .... I beg to differ The fact is, as organisms go, we are pretty wimpy. We were born with no means of self defense. We require years of sucking air before we can even feed ourselves. While we are omnivores, there are very few foods we can eat that don't require preparation. If we only ate the foods that don't require any preparation we would end up with illnesses before long. We have no natural insulation so we can only tolerate about a 30 degree range of temperature and our cooling system has no effect if the humidity is over 75. While we are not very adaptable, we are masters at adapting our environment to suit ourselves. We take the skins of animals, parts of plants, and synthetic materials and make insulation from them. What we are missing in adaptablity, we make up for in ingenuity. We take the natural resources available to us and build shelters for ourselves. We can take almost anything and make it food. We can live in almost every nook and cranny of the globe.. not because we are adaptable, but because we are so resourceful.

Our body are one of the worsts of all animals existing...Our salvation is our brains, thanks tove in him we can solve a lot of problem, for example is too hot? we invented air conditioning to solve that problem, but if we had to live in a jungle we will be for sure one of the last rings in the food chain

Our minds do give us the problem solving skills to adapt our environment to ourselves... even in the jungle. There are several groups of people who have thrived in the deepest jungles.
