House Agreement in germany

On Monday last I visited a house that was for rent in germany, I met with the owner and he agreed that we could have the house as from the 1st August 2006, I came home and confirmed to him by mail that I was indeed looking forward to being his new tennat, the following day I recived a mail informing me that he wanst to wait as there is now another family interested from the US base in germany, and he now say that if they dont take we can have it, but he already agreed it with me, please advise Regards, Graham Clarkson.
