for those of you who don't watch this new season of real world faithfully i'm going to let you know what happened one of the castmates (davis who is also homosexual) went on a drunken rage and called one of the other castmates the n word (tyrie). i would assume if your homosexual you should be aware of prejudice, tolerance, and acceptance what are your views on the scenario that took place?

Hi! I actually saw that episode. Davis was way, way out of line. He admitted later that he was too drunk, but still, he is supposed to be trying to get along with his housemates, not call them racial slurs. Tyrie did a very good job of controlling himself. He really wanted to punch Davis, but it's to his credit that he didn't. I guess it's just another case of an idiot getting drunk and running off his mouth!

there is a fine line between what you can and cant control saying when you are drunk - usually people just use it as an excuse

Well, honestly, I think Davis just said it cuz he knew it would make Tyrie mad. This, by any means, does not excuse the use of a word that carries so much hate, but I don't think that Davis has any prejudice against other races. He was drunk and Tyrie had gotten him all angry and worked up so he just said it. I don't really like Davis and I'm not really standing up for him just saying my opinion. I don't really like many of the people this season. lol. To much madness for me.

While I personally don't agree with it being said, I also have an issue with the fact that I see white people refered to by many racial slurs and no one says anything. If the n word is bad, no one should say it and I mean no one. We shouldn't use any racial slurs about anyone, ever and the world would be a better place.

i agree with you a hundred percent all racial slurs should be banned from everybody's vernacular

Really is that what happened I didn't see that one!! I really dont watch real world but I did see the episode where the girl got mad @ Tyrie because he reminded her of her ex. That was wild. She was drunk as I dont know what!Far as what you were saying about the guy calling the N word to Tyrie that is messed up. I dont care how drunk you are the N word is very disrespectful and rude.I bet Tyrie went off on him to!!

I saw that episode myself and I can honestly say I can see why Davis would say it....when you are that drunk and that angry at the time plus at the world in general, you'll spew out things that are gonna really get ppl by the b@lls..hurtful, cruel things...he WANTED Tyrie to hit him...what better way to get him to then to spew somehting like that?? does that excuse it? Hell no! I've knocked the crap out of ppl for saying that word to me BUT I understand how it happened...

I've been trying to catch up on some episodes, I haven't seen that one yet! Davis is way out of line, by what you've wrote, and you are right! Being gay and having to take all the slack for that, Davis should of known better than to say something like that. Now I have seen the episode where Davis is called out in a bar for being gay and Tyrie sticks up for him! (was it before or after this happened?) I see what you were trying to say, and I think that all non-black people in this day and age should know better than to say that word! But, why is it that one black can call another black the N word, and it's ok?????? I don't think it's right for ANYONE to use the N word or any other racial or prejudice comment! Good Topic!

I used to watch the show, at least some of them throughout the years and I have noticed that the shock value of letting things like that get aired has seemed to win out over what might be consideration. I will have to check ou the new season to see what you have mentioned

just because a person is homosexual, does not mean that they do not have prejudices of their own, plus they say you speak the truth when you are drunk?xx

I thought he was very responsible for his action by not hitting David. I also think it was the rightthing for him to go to him and make ammends with David. David admitted that he had a problem. Some people people may not mean to say it but they still think it and I still think that is sad!

Where is the line when it comes to being drunk? I hear people excusing all kinds of inappropriate behavior because someone was drunk. "He hit me because he was drunk." "She cheated because she was drunk." "He only touches me when he is drunk." "She is mean when she is drunk." I personally think that is not an acceptable excuse. Drinking lowers inhibitions... it doesn't cause people to necessarilly act out of character. At the very least, this guy (gay or otherwise) struggles with feelings of prejudice and needs to seek help.

I think everyone should be aware of what they are saying no matter what, however Davis who has to deal with such things should be more so. I know I have said things that I regretted when I wanted to upset someone, but on national t.v? ouch!!
