Yes believe it or not I am awful at punctuation I couldn't tell you where to put a comma to save my life. I got threw highschool with my punctuation being as bad as it is. I guess some people would wonder how well I guess it is because are school system is very flawed and I loop holed threw it. I am a master at most other things I learned in school but punctuation always stopped me in my tracks. I made this topic because I decided today that for the next few day I am gonna buckle down and fix the problem by learn punctuations the correct way.
I am wondering has anybody else had this problem before or still does? If people on here have seen my responses before in topics then you've seen my sloppy typing ...lol.

indeed it is hard to know where to place a comma. I suggest reading articles on the net or buying a book about punctuations. I am confident you would master it in no time. Good luck!

I have the same problem, though I tend to put too many commas in :) The problem is that there are so many pesky rules about what's right and what's wrong that it's almost impossible to remember them all. Of course then you throw in the fact that those same rules can change from country to country and really it's no wonder I never know whether I'm coming or going half the time.

No, I don't, and I never have. I never understood HOW someone could be really bad at punctuation if their first language is English - it's just recognizing a sentence pattern and putting the little dash, period or comma in the right place. I have an easy time learning the sentence and punctuation structures in other languagues as well.

look it is not a difficult job. just read the sentence which u r writng and if if u are stopping in between the sentence, that means u have to put camma there. for other punchuatoin marks u have to follow some simple rules

Yes I am horrible at it. I like to just throw a comma in all the time to just keep on rambling. I have no idea how to use commas correctly. But it is not just punctuation that eludes me, english in general is a tough for me... and I have been using it all my life.

I think punctuation is a minefiled myself, therefore I keep it to the bear minimum. What I did realise about myself is that I CANT type, I make major spelling errors on this site, some of them inexusable! Wish that MyLot had a spell check function!

I don't think I have too much trouble with punctuation, but it is very surprising to me as well, that so many adults get through school, and they can't spell! I guess it doesn't matter too much with spell check!

Well all_n_one i will challenge anyone to say i am not the worst person ever for punctuation .Like roztredtoes i could write 100 words and not one comma or full stop on the page i a really bad. Usually when i have finished i go back check my spelling and wack in a couple of commas and full stops change letters to capitals and hope for the best .If i have written something really long then halfway through my check i think blow this what i have done is probably all wrong anyway so just give up. If people want to be sticklers for grammar (which i am also exceptionally bad at)and punctuation then just stay away from my discussions.

even i have the same problem. the best thing to do, is to read wat u have written. every time u see the need for a pause, put a comma and a long pause means fullstop. it generally works well.

My punctuation is terrible and sometimes my spelling can be quite awful
I'm not sure but i think there are sites on the internet that can help you put that right. I suppose i should study that again as i'm hoping to go back to college next year. So will need to know where comma's and punctuation marks go.
goo luck with it let me know how you get on

i think there's nothing wrong in having problems in using punctuation marks unless you are writing a formal thing. what's important is that you can express what you want to say and others can understand and properly respond to you...

LOL I think I have the opposite problem. I can't NOT use proper punctuation. Okay, so my English sucks, but at least the punctuation is proper! Even when I am instant messaging someone, I often delete whole sentences, and then go back and put in the proper commas, periods, etcetera, just so it looks right to me.
