That's a hard decision man. At first, you don't have to punish your Saint Bernard, it's his instinct , he hasn't done anything wrong. Animal rights. But for the chihuahua and for your girlfriend, I think it's better to replace it a new chihuahua. I guess that would be better.

My girlfriend is/was really fond of her dog so I don't know if replacing it will help the situation. I thought the dogs would get along and not try to kill each other...

Be sensitive to her feelings. I am sure that she is grief-stricken from the loss of her chihuahua. Try to make it up to her in any way that you can. My husband's dog ate my favorite parakeet a couple of months ago and just buying another parakeet would not make me feel better. He gave away the offending dog, which I didn't like to begin with, and that made me feel somewhat better.

OH MY GOSH! Thats not good! My Saint would have probably done the same if we didnt supervise him. I would def. suggest to get her a new little puppy (when she is ready of course) and then def. crate the little puppy when you are not around. You wouldnt want it to happen again! GOOD LUCK....

Seriously?
Just some advice.........don't buy her a new dog. I'm not saying that cause your saint Bernard might eat it again. I'm saying cause girls (no offense meant) usually don't care about the money stuff.....uhh I'm not phrasing this rite..
I mean its like a dog is more than just some object that can be bought with money....it was a loving companion that has no price..
So buying her a new dog rite away will be like saying its an object I can replace and that might make her think that you think money can solve everything......and that might make her think that you can put a price on her.......
I think you know where I'm going!!Well.....try spending some more time with her....romantic dinners.......try making it up to her.....
Well Its just a suggestion, my point of view....
