What do you think about either a woman president or a black president?

I am interested to see where people stand. How do you feel that a woman or a black may become president?
Just for anyone's information, I am not racisist nor am I against women (heck I am a woman). But on that same note, I do not think our country is ready for either yet. And it is sad. I honestly think our country would crumble. Not that I think there isn't a woman nor a black out there that are cabable of being the commander in chief, but I honestly think our country would just turned upside down in a frenzy. There is just to much hatred still out there and I think there would be a quick assasination attempt.

I know this discussion is old but I think it's still a point of topic. Honestly? I don't care if the are black, white, male, female, purple, yellow or green. The can have three horns coming out of their head but give us a plan. A solid plan to bring this country around to what it was.
You see farmers not raising livestock because you can sell them more for dog food then the open market. You see independant businesses being drove to the ground through taxes and now this new law passed by congress.
Let me see where the middle to lower class (so deemed by income) is going to for ONCE benefit from tax breaks or better cost of living. Let me see it, let me taste it.
For the time being? I don't care who is in office as long as they are thinking of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. You know, the poeple that put them there.

I hear ya. I wish it was that easy. Politics ALWAYS get in the way though.
And I wish that we were at that point (you'd think by this day and age we would be) that we truly were a free country - free from racism, free from sexism, ect.

any person either black or white has a right to be a president, even white or black it depends to their capacity.

I wouldn't vote for a minority simply to vote for a minority, but I think that having a President from any minority group could be very beneficial. Our Presidential system has reached a point where no one is that different from anyone else. You have to try so hard to see differences in the various candidates...and I think that a President who was more different than the rest could spur the changes that are needed. Who knows when it will happen...but I'm ready for it!

i think its too soon for a women to run for presidency. I think that there are many people out there who are not ready to accept the fact that a women is the president of their country. this could happen after a long time; however, i strong believe that an african american person can run for president. For example senator Brack Obama.

I agree that our country isn't ready for either one, however, if a qualified one emerged, and I agreed with their ideology, I would gladly vote for either.
I wanted Elizabeth Dole or Colin Powell to run, but I seriously doubt either one will.

I don't understand why you would think that. Any person is able to the job as long as they are qualified. What makes you think that a black man can not do the same job as a white man? A woman can do the job just as well as any man. The world needs to change their views. It is a tough job to do but as long as the person is strong minded and able to do the job what is to stop them?

Dear You:
I believe...I take that back...I know that America would see a true difference if we were to have a minority (not just a BLACK person) or a female in office. It's people like you that's actually contemplating the negativaty instead of promoting positivity. We probably will never know because so many people like yourself are "scared"! I really think that you're scared that a minority and/or woman will become something more powerful than any white commander and chief.
Sincerely,
Black Educated Woman

You're right. I do not know who you vote for or what side of the fence you swing on, but in your own words "I can see right through your words". You make reference that I might be the one that is racisist but truely, it sounds as if you are the one that is. You are so caught up on "black power". Like I don't know your history or lifestyle or what you have been through in life, you do not know mine so don't try to judge or even begin to imagine what type of person I am. I already have a judge and God is the only for me.
All of this was my opinion, which like you, I am entitled to. I am not making a point or a statement and don't make it out to be what it is not.
And Ms Black Educated Woman, I am not sure what a Mohigan is (I even checked the dictionary to be sure I was missing something but failed to find that word in the dictionary). IF you are trying to say Mohican then again, I am still not even sure that you are making a good judgement on making that reference seeing as I am white. But I am sure it was just a minor laps of insite on your part as an educated woman.

Exactly! It would be WONDERFUL to see our country moving forwrad in that sense. It would truely be a great mark in history if we had an able woman or a minority in office and that our country would finally see equal.

I actually believe both of your sides. I myself am both Black and Female. I see that there could be very positive things that could come from this. First would be either a female or a black as president. That would mean that we as a nation was moving foward. Yet, I also do see our nation falling apart from the moment the announcement was made. Both Lincoln and Kennedy were assasinated for helping black people. And it's just a fact that men are mostly afraid to see women in position of power above them. So, if we can make it past an assasination, I do believe that we will be making some kind of progress.

His speech just might have made it possible - I just hope that isn't it. I pray that he delivers what he promised and that he isn't just talking to hear himself talk.

Shame one me for what? And to answer your question, no, I do not think the president runs the country alone. And that is what I think is keeping this country from either a woman president or a president of a different racial background. Maybe you should read again what I posted and read all the other comments before you jump to conclusions.
