I am not sure what is the exact cause but would love to make a comment which might be of interest to you. There is an old Chinese belief that twitching of the eye signifies an omen, whether good or bad depends if it is left or right (I cannot remember which is which now).

Eye strain and stress are 2 causes of twitching. Do you wear glasses? You may need your perscription changed. Do you use the computer alot? Reading also causes strain.
