And rightly so!! Becoming a parent for the first time is so exciting but nerve-racking at the same time. Not to worry though, once the little bundle of joy comes out, everything comes naturally.
Take it from me! My wife gave birth to our first and only child when I was 23 and while I was ready to be married, I wasn't so sure about being a parent... I mean, I love kids, but there's just something different when it's "your" kid involved...
But when my daughter came out, my life changed totally. For the better, I might add. Sure they're trying at times, but the benefits far outweigh the cons.
Just read the common book, "what do expect when you're expecting" first and it'll prepare you for your new arrival. There are other books in the series too, dealing with new borns and toddlers, but start with that one.
Congratulations!! You're on your way to a more fulfilling life. Just remember to treat your child with love and compassion, respect and dignity and he/she will return the same.

At least I knew I was ready for kids before they came along?? Glad to here that the benefits outweigh the cons.. I've heard that a bit now, and I think I have that book - I am sure that's what my friend lent me... so I'll go and have a look now - or I'll get it next time I'm at the shop or library - thankyou!!

First of all it is normal to have these feelings. The best thing is to speak to a gaenecologist and ask for advice, he will explain everything to you. There is no reason to be scared and I know it is easier said than done but it is the truth. Millions of women went through the same experience. Just relax and enjoy the time and the changes. It is going to be wonderful and exciting. CONGRATULATIONS

Yep this is my first. I've seen a few births though (I watched my first neice and my two youngest sisters (8 and 6 now) being born, and I work with kids (I am a teacher).... I am looking forward for being fully responsible and I am actually not worried about the lack of sleep and all that (I am a short sleeper myself anyway)... The only bit I am scared of is the labour and birth!!! (And all the needles I'll have to have throughout)...

hiya annyka don't worry about it, i had my 1st baby 19 months ago and i was thinking the same as u lol i was petrified but after all it's not really that bad, try not to worry about it and take your mind off the birth you still have a while to go yet! labour isn't that bad to be honest if it was, have you ever thought why women are having so many children!LOL they wouldn't have that many if it was that painful! that's what i thought and it took my mind off it anyway congrats and i hope everything goes well, good luck! :O)
