Why is color blindness more frequent in boys?

i've read it from a biology book and while looking on the net that it occurs like 8% to males while 0.4% only to females

If I'm remembering correctly, color blindness is genetic. It is passed from father to daughter to son. The daughter passes the gene to her son which is why boys can be color blind while girls cannot have true color blindness. Eg. My father is color-blind, I have passed the gene onto my son who is also color-blind. Had I had a daughter, the chain would have been broken.

are you color blind? Studies shows that mostly men are color blind because of the genes.
