I had prepared an exotic six couse meal for 50 guests for a special occasion. Only 8 or 10 finally turned up. What a waste of effort and ingeredients.

Aww, that's too bad. I think I would have taken the food to a homeless shelter. That way it wouldn't have been a total waist.

This is just a really dumb thing to do, so once you know it, don't do it.
I use to have a nice all glass tea pot. I like that old thing but you wouldn't think so after you hear this.
I put water on to boil and of course I forgot about it. The next time I walked into the kitchen it was hot in there and I saw the tea pot, empty, and the burner glowing bright red.
Did I turn off the burner and leave it, of course not.
I had no shirt on, not that that would matter but thought you should know. I grabbed the handle, but I did test it to be sure I didn't burn myself.
Then in the next split second I did the dumbest thing I have ever done. Well it might not be the dumbest but I had to say that for effect.
So, next thing I placed it directly on the counter. DUH!!
KABOOM !!!
There were broken quarter inch pieces of molten glass stuck in the walls, bouncing off everything in the kitchen, except me. I didn't get a single burn or scratch.
I figure the way I was standing when I placed it on the counter and holding the handle caused the explosion to go in a pattern away from the handle I was holding.
Oh yeah, there was a perfectly round hole burned right through the counter topping and into the wood below.
I did a really dumb thing that day and fortunately I survived and you know I have never done that kind of thing again.
